July 23 rd Athens to Naxos

Me and my mom had to wake up at the persons house that we are staying with. I mom tried to get me to wake up at seven o'clock but I woke up at 10. We had to catch
a boat to go to the islands. Our original plan was to take the two o'clock boat but when we arrived we missed it. We had to take an eight o'clock boat which means we
we had to wait. So we decided to waste some time by going to a toy store. we got a soccer ball also known as football. We got some tennis balls and that's basically it.
Also while we were excited to store I got our soccer ball stuck inside of the escalator. We had to leave the store as fast as we can. After we wasted some time we got
onto our boat. The boat ride was six hours long and there was a watch dog on it. The watchdog wouldn't stop whining. Everyone on the boat smoked. It was really hurting
my lungs. After the six-hour boat ride was over me and my mom had to get on a bus to the campsite. The camp that we are staying at was a good camp with
lots of people. We arrived at two o'clock in the morning. So we went straight to sleep in our new home, a tent.

July 22 Venice to Athens

We woke up in Venice and we were waiting for our tickets from Fed EX so we can leave. See my Dad works for an airline but we have to wait for these special tickets.
My mom says its hard to have address ahead of time when we don't know people here. So this time we waited for a day or two. So the tickets arrived and we went to the airport. Andreas drove us to the airport and I had to
say goodbye to his iphone and goodbye to him. We brought our tickets for the flight and we got on. We flew to Frankfurt and we bought a huge chocolate bar that cost
eight dollars but it was really worth it. We then flew to Athens and we ate our chocolate bar on the flight. My mom couch surfed and found Dimistris who let us stay with him. We got there about 1 or2 am after taking the subway near his house. So we went to his house. Right when I got there I had a coke acola and watched some TV.
I watched a TV show about 40 ways that Hitler was almost killed. Forty times he escaped death only to shoot himself in the head. Then I went to sleep.

July 21 st Venice, Italy

We woke up late this morning. Andreas had a meeting so me and my mom stayed in our room and played chess. My mom gave up by the end of the game because she said she was
in a bad position. I don't really think she was but she said she was hot so we ended the game. When the meeting was over Andreas came into our room said to come out. It was really hot in there. When we came out of the room andreas gave us some lemonade, but it's actually sprite.
They call Sprite here lemonade. As I was saying, the lemonade tasted really refreshing. We went and had a traditional Italian luch which means lots of different plates of food. Then my mom had to go to the bank for something but I don't know what she went for.
But I came along too. So did Andrea. I was bored out of my mind so I begged my mom to get a movie for me. I ended up getting the movie Open Season 2.
She took about three hours to to make a deposit or something. After the bank and my mom and I wanted to go to a pool. We walked alot to get there and my mom
took pictures of street art. When we got there the pool was not what I expected.
It was one of those YMCA pools. I had to wear a bathingcap, so did every single person. That day I lost my dignity. I didn't really want to go to the pool but I had to
because of how hot I was. When I was done with going in the pool we went back to Andrea house. I decided to order Chinese. Then I went to sleep.

July 20th Venice

Started off the day by waking up we decieded we wouldn't do any real tourist stuff today. Just go into Venice looking at the stores and walking around without a plan.
Basically like going into a mall when you dont have any money. We got on a bus taking us to the center of Venice. Right when we got off my mom saw these stores with Venetian masks.
The masks were wierdly decorated with spiral designs and magestic patterns. My mom decieded that we will get 3 masks for the whole family, me, mom, and dad.
We were on a quest to get a family of masks.the first mask we got was for me. The place where we first got my mask was a small store with a very nice owner.
The mask that I got was a small mask that only covered the eyes. It was tan and black with music notes on it. The sun was beating down on me. I was really tired along with
hungry. Hot , tired, and hungry, not the best combination. So we looked for a place to eat. Along our quest to find something to eat we stumbled upon the old Jewish Ghetto.
There is a story that goes back to 15 century or something. The story is that iron workers were called gato. Most of the Jewish people worked in iron.
At one point they wanted to put all the Jewish people in the same spot so they called this area the gato. Except jewish people pronounced it Ghetto.
Then everyone in the world started using this word. This interested me because people say we live in the Ghetto. Anyway- We stumbled upon this restaurant that had lots of people at it then we found a seat.
Within 5 minutes everyone left. I dont know why. But anyways, we took our order and got what we wanted. My mom didn't get anything so I guess I should say what I wanted.
The waiter spoiled my mom by giving her free taste tests of wine. He took her into his wine shop. i was watching him. I saw him point down the hall way and then she walked
down there. He looked at me, and then went down the hall again. When he went down the hall i slowly grabbed a knife decieding if I was going to go to the door but then my mom came out
laughing and I thought wheww. So we stayed there for about an hour or two doing nothing because my mom had to write in her sacred little diary, while I took bread and fed the fishes with it.
So we left and deceided to walk, along the way my mom found her mask, a red and white one with little bells on top. She also found my dad's mask, it had one side black and one side white with musical notes and bells on top. We walked home with the family of masks. Suposeofly we were going to wear them for Halloween but
I had other plans, I was going to be Mario. When we Got home and I was going to watch a movie but it seemed like almost too much work so I decieded to just go to sleep
and listen to the song Sexy Back and some Biggie Smalls.

July 19th Venice, Italy

I woke up late today, but my mom woke up on schedule. We had to do our entries for yesterday since we didnt do them last night. Today we were going to meet the Mexicans at two o'clock. The Mexicans are both people that we met a few days ago before Slovenia. They are a father and a daughter traveling, kind of like our duo.
But they were not not writing a book, ha ha ha ha. We were late to meet them at the restaurant that we are going to meet them at because of how I didn't do my entriesfast enough. We met them about 30 minutes late but they were still there waiting for us,But they weren't at the Chinese restaurant, they were at a different restaurant and he called us from the other side of the Street.Instead we went to a Italian restaurant. We had choruses of meals, an appetizer a main dish and a side dish, then dessert. I got pasta with seafood. It tasted really good.
The type of seafood that they had set up with the pasta was muscles, scallop, and other seafood stuff. But when we were all done eating we went to go check out a hotel that they were staying in. The hotel was one of those rich people would have that were made out of old brick and had portraits all over the walls. The daughter of the Mexican, lisa, showed me to her room. It was messy but nice and the computer was charging on the toilet. After Lisa showed me her room we all went to go for a walk by the canal.

Along the trail that we were walking on there was a train track. I put two rocks on the train track to see if the train would go off course and go flying. I imagined hunderds of inncocent lives lost. The crash was devastating. Then I saw the train go by and nothing happened. Thats how life is. As we were walking down the trail i got like a hundred bug bites.
The bugs bites get red and huge on me. Instead of the train crashing with devastation I got bit with devastation. God's will is poweerful. While we were walking down the streamwe saw a dead rabbit floating in the river. I dont really want to describe the rabbit because i am eating right now but I will say these key words: wet fur, dirty water, flees,
and no eyeballs. WE went back. My mom and Jorge smoked a cigarette while Lisa and I built a teepee. We left the Hotel and went to Andrea's to go eat at an Italian restaurant. We ate pasta and and I had a taste of wine. I found out that day that I am a light weight. Lisa, Jorge and I did role plays. Like we had to act out situations. We all walked home and then they left and we went inside Andrea's office to sleep.

July 18 Ljubljana to Venice, First day in Venice

me and my mom woke up at seven o'clock in the morning the person that we were staying with drove us to the bus station. I got a doughnut. It was a glazed powdered doughnut, that was two times the regular size of a doughnut.
As we are waiting for the bus me and my mom looked in the magazine shop. There was no good magazines like the ones in Massachusetts. All of them were like Slovenian Times.
When the bus arrived it seemed like in the beginning it was going to be a smooth ride until 10 minutes later inside of ride a baby starts to cry.Even a little girl, 3 feet tall about six years old, decides to run down the aisles and repeat random words as loud as she could. I thought a four hour bus ride was supposed to be relaxing. The mom gave on getting the girl to bequite so she just let it go, and let her jump on the seats.
After a totally really not relaxing bus ride we arrived at Venice. We arrived at the bus station where we had to call the person that is hosting us.He picked us up at the bus station and brought us to his office. That's where we were staying. He was also a filmmaker. A nice one-two. We met Argentinians at the office do that were staying there.
They were nice people too. We were all hungry so we decided to all go out to eat- Andrea, the person who is hosting us, the Argentines, the people that we met at the office. And man my mom.
The first place we went to go eat was a pizza place. I got a pepperoni pizza,, or at least I think. But whatever really had was spiced sausage. Then after that we went to go have some ice cream.
But the icecream I got was really strong chocolate, a bit too strong. The ice cream was really strong. So strong that I got heartburn. We went to go to the main part of Venice to go to a pharmacy.
When I got off the bus ended up throwing up. It felt awful. The heartburn felt like acid boiling my stomach. Like nothing ever felt before. After I threw up I felt little bit better. We went on a tourist boat ride, amazingly my mom didn't have the heart to take me to a hospital.
Amazingly, were going on a boat ride. Right after I threw up.They said it was a watertaxi the way people get around here. I fell asleep on a boat ride. I later woke up and me and my mom were going to a park so I could lay down on the grass for another two hours.
And later on when someone woke me up to move away from the sun and I slept more. I slept really good day. Then we went to go to the docs so we can go see the fireworks. I fell asleep there to. I woke up to a big bang, big pain, and a bunch of lights. The fireworks were amazing, and very loud. They came out and all different types of shapes, like stars and hearts.
After the fireworks were over I had to clumsily walk because of how sleep it was. Right when they saw the bed I jumped on it went to sleep.

July 17 th Ljubljana, Slovenia

this morning my 9 1/2 year old friend and my mom and me are going on a hike.
We are going to travel to a castle. The castle was right next to a big town called Ljubljana with rivers,
where were bridges so you can go over a river and go the castle. There was a path that led up to the castle.
it was one of those paths that went around and around in a spiral until it reached the castle the path was long and hard,
it was also steep. Once we reached the castle I collapsed in exhaustion. I was so tired.
My friend was tired too. We explored the inside of the castle. The caves inside the castle weredark. after we explored the castle we went to go eat.
The first place that we ate at was a pizza place. We didn't really eat but we drank lemonade.
It's hard to understand my friend because he only speaks Slovenian. I usually communicate with them by making body movements or using keywords and explain them with
body movement's. It must be hard to be not knowing what anyone say. I know how he feels because when my mom speaks Spanish to all of the people I feel really left out.
That's why I usually don't talk in English to my mom when everyone is speaking spanish. I usually do the same thing that I do communicate with the nine-year-old boy.
The next place that we went to we actually ate something. We went to a Mexican restaurant where we got the best nochos ever. There was a huge plate of them and we ate
the whole thing. It was a combination of sauces and cheese chips, it taste so good. While we were walking down the pathway we saw an ice cream stand.
I guess you know what happened after that. Once we saw it we ate it. Me and my friend got chocolate but my mom got chocolate and vanilla swirl. It was a really good
last part of the meal to really top off the whole experience of eating the awesome nochos. We were finally ready to go home, but my mom wanted to see more but me
and my friend disagreed on that. So we went home. We had a BBQ and I was the bee swatter.
After the barbecue what better way to end the day then to have a water fight. I was so worn out after the water fight I went straight upstairs to sleep.

After I had breakfast which was yougurt, me and mom had to search for a cafÈ. Not only a cafÈ, an Internet cafÈ. My mom checked her e-mails there, one of the e-mails was one from the people that we were staying with last time. They said I used their personal e-mail and said mean and rude things about
them but I really didn't. What really happened was I was sending an e-mail to a web site called homestarrunner. This web site takes funny emails you write and he writes back to you as a funny
song or message. I gave him a scenario that I was at a stupid person's house and I was locked in their and I needed a way to get out.The people that we were staying with thought that I was talking about them so they sent to us an e-mail back that was titled "disappointment". I didn't really mean it to be about them but it seemed like it. I wasn't even talking about them or anyone I know but they would probably not believe me because it was clear evidence in their sent box. My mom was very mad and inside of the e-mail that she wrote as an apology she called me a stupid boy. I didn't really like to be called a stupid boy but when it was my turn to write I had to call myself a stupid boy beacause I was. When I was there I wasn't very nice to my mom and I wasn't being mean to the family but I wasn't really nice either, and that my mom expects of me. Even though I gave the baby a toy and the baby really like the toy. When my mom was done at the Internet cafÈ and was done checking all her e-mails that took about five hours literally. We went home and had dinner with the family that we were staying with, they were nice and we had rice with chicken and salad. It tasted really good. After dinner me and the nine in half year old kid played together and watch TV. It was pretty fun until I had to go to bed. Then my mom said that I had to do an entry and then I felt sleepy. Even as I was doing the entry I start to fall asle. ZzZzZzZz

July 14th Paris

The day started simple enough, we got up and went to the Etiffel Tower to try and walk up. We couldn't do it because it was closed because they are going to have
fireworks this evening. Then they started to close everything even the streets. It was wierd because they wouldn't let anyone pass even familys that got split up.
It was scary so we decieded to stop being tourists, cancell our plans for the day, and go sit on the houseboat deck.It was there that we met Rodney. Rodney was a chef who had came to make food for tonight. He was 62 but he looked like he was 40 and always seemed drunk. He was cool and what was awsome about him was that he had this funny way he
talked, almost like a hillbilly. My mom helped Rodney cook. They made all this wonderful food that I didn't try because i wasn't hungry at the time. A bunch of people came over
to Helene and Olivers house to watch the fireworks. The fireworks were cool and very loud, i would see them go up and then hear them 3 seconds later. They were coming out
of the Etiffel tower. My mom took a bunch of photos. I was grumpy so I went inside and played with a PSP. I wasn't feeling social, and thats why I didn't write that much to
you- I just wasn't feeling social.Tomorrow is a new day.

July13 th Paris

July 13th Paris

today I had to wake up at eight o'clock so I could go to a water park inside France. My mom didn't want to go to but when I said I would pay for it out of my report
card money she said she would go, weird coincedence. The walk was dreadful to get to the water park, the sun was bearing on us and it was so hot.
My sandals crippled me while we walked. The sides of my sandals were scratching at my foot and made big marks on my feet.
Finally when we made it we had to get our tickets and head up the stairs.
Once we're up the stairs and inside a locker room, I change into my bathing suit. When we got upstairs a employee of the water park told us that I couldn't wear that
type of bathing suit. I was wearing and Army colored bathing suit that was baggy and down to my knees. He said that I need to wear one of the bathing suits here. They had bathing suits inside of a vendor.
A type of being suits they had in their were tight, small, and about half way up my thigh. It was very uncomfortable because of how tight it was,
it felt like I was different from everyone else. It was so uncomfortable. My mom andI went on some of the rides then she didn't want to go on anymore so while
she just slept on the beach I went on all the rest. There was this one ride that was really fast and great but it had a huge jerk/turn that would hurt your head
because your head would slam into it. The ride I liked the best was this one that wasn't too fast or too harsh but was really slippery. The tube was really wide so
you could spin inside of it and your going down hill. There there was one ride that was just a shot down inside of a tube.
You would get in for about 5 feet you go straight and then you drop down, and then you would skip across water. That one was really fun except a few go
headfirst because instead of skipping, I went flipping. When I went down head first the water was about 5 inches up inside of the tunnel so it was like a tiny wall
and it caught on to my head and then I started to do somersaults so that air then fly out of the tube. After I was done with the slides my mom said we had to go
cause she wanted to see a Museum. The museum that we went to was huge and but entrance to it was inside of the clear pyramid. It was called The Louve.
The pyrmide went underground and that was where the Museum is. It was huge with big halls. The paintings on each side of the hall and statues inside of the hall too.
We went to go see the Mono Lisa inside of the Museum. The Mono Lisa painting was small, but it felt like the eyes were following you, I think it's just because of
how her body's turning and her face is looking forward while her eyes are looking the other way where her bodysturning which gives an illusion that she's looking at
you from all different places. There is a bunch of people there taking pictures. It was really crowded. My feet were killing me because of how much we were walking
inside the Museum. It was like walking on spikes. After we left the Museum I went straight home to where we are staying and my mom said I have to make my entry right when I get home,
so that's what I'm doing right now. And now that I'm done, I'm going to go sleep.
Goodnight.

July 12 th Paris

I had to wake up really early so I could get up and catch the train to London. We rode in my moms freinds car to go to the train station. I said goodbye to Dan,
WE would make jokes sometimes together that I thought was funny. Bye Dan.
When we found our train, the euro star train.
the Train that we were on was really fast, it was two times as fast as the car on the highway.
It was also not loud at all, at least the train wasn't loud. There was a high school group with us on the train.
If you could imagine, it created a really big nuisance. When we got off the train, we had to pull our luggage to the boat we were staying.
The boat is right next to the Ettifel tower.
The veiw is great and so is the location, we could just walk to the Etiffel Tower. We walked under the Eiffel Tower but we didn't go up in it because of the huge lines.
But the metal designs on it was really cool I thought it kind of resembled a fire because of how the legs look like logs and the top of it looks like fire
only in a different way, still it looked randomly like fire. It was really cool all in all. We also got a little hockey sack that had a face on it but after five
minutes having it, it got lost.
After we settled ourselves in we went for a walk to go to the grocery store and got some food. the food here seems the same too.
For dinner, we had tacos. We ate with Helene, Oliver and Lu who is letting us stay with them. I gave Lu a Bakujan ball and he likes it.
I dont know if I'll even eat in the restaurants here because I cant ask if there's no nuts. Time to go!

July 11 th Oxford, United Kingdom

by Nicosia Rainey-Ray

all seasons in one day

July 11th Oxford England

Today I had to wake up really early around seven o'clock. We were going to the place where Harry Potters school was, Hogwarts, it was located in Oxford England.
We went there with my moms friends, Dan and Helen. The real school looks nothing like the Hogwarts school, it's very different. Inside the dining Hall where Harry Potter
eat his meals with the whole rest of the school was not as dark as it is in the movie and there were a bunch of paintings on the walls. There were no carpets inside
of the school either The school looked amazing, they had a huge school yard and huge hallways, and huge everything. The school was quite amazing in its size.
The school let out onto the streets and the streets are just like the streets inside the Harry Potter movie.
They were made with stone also, I think stone is a big building material that a lot of people use in London.
I got lost again inside of the school but this time it was easy to get lost because of all the the dorms and all that stuff.
I was looking ahead for everyone when everyone was back behind, I started to panic. I was standing at the front gate so that if mom or my mom's friends pass-through
I would see them. But it took along time for that to happen and it was as if my mom wasn't even there. It's like as if she left, I felt so alone.
But that's just me and panic mode. Ha ha ha ha ha. ha. Usually my mom takes care of me. The only reason why said that is because I don't want her to get mad at me if
she actually reads this. So basically what I said was true. wink.
After we left the school we went out to eat. When we ordered my mom got a fish dish and I got a huge burger. It was the biggest burger I've ever seen.
The only thing that made it big was the actual beef inside of it. The bread was skinny on both sides there was a thin layer of cheese but then the beef patty was about 2 inches tall And 5 inches long.
I could only finish half of the burger because of how big it was. The rest of the burger I had to take to go which English people dont usually do.
Up the street was a festival where Dan's sister played some big brass horn. There was also a bunch of festival games, I only had time to play one game.
The game I played was tug of war, the Almighty game of strength. Our team was very small but we still won, we won three times in a row.
That means I get a ticket and a ticket means you get one free drink. I had to gulp down the soda. It was intense. The place where got to drink was about 10 minutes
up the road. I realized that when I was playing tug I left my sweater behind because of how hot I was getting. Luckily since I had that soda I was bursting with energy.
I ran all the way to the Carnival and I took my sweater and ran back right when I reached the car the sugars was gone and I just went into a downfall inside the car.
I fell asleep for an hour but when we arrived back home my mom told me that I had to write this letter. So this is what I'm doing right now. And I think I may go to sleep soon
because tomorrow we leave for Paris.
Goodbye

July 9th Bristol,England. Banksy

by Nicosia Rainey-Ray age 11

semi-overcast

July 9th-Bristol, England

Today me and my mom are going to Bristol to the Bristol city Museum for an exhibition of the Banksy.
The bus ride there was two and a half hours long it was really boring on the bus ride. I decided to read my book and go on the computer.
We didn't have any Internet access so I had to play games that were already on the computer. One of the games I played was Luxor. The games is played by making matches
and you get points making matches, matches of Jewels. When we finally got to the end of the bus ride we were in Bristol and we had to go find our way to the Museum.
When saw the Museum where the Banksy exhibit was there was a line and it was like a mile long. The wait took about an hour to even get into the exhibit it was really boring in the line. My mom told me this
was really important to her like seeing Iceage times 5 so I was good and waited. When we got to the exhibit there was one part of exhibit I really liked.
I liked the hotdogs in the cages that were moving around like hamsters. My mom said it was it make us think about the way we exploit animals. His art is really cool,
thats because he does streets art. He's my favorite artist because of how he runs from the police and is very good at doing art, and how he's so secret and sneaky.
Because he's secret he gets to live free, like secret super hero kind of like spiderman.
After that we got on the bus and went home. This bus ride was especially hard because I didn't have any more ideas of what to do so I just decided to go to sleep.
When we got off of the bus we decided to go to the movie theater. I saw Iceage 3 because of all the signs that talked about it. It was only OK.
We saw it in 3-D but the 3-D isn't as good as in Massachusetts. After the movie we went to our house and went to sleep.
Goodbye.
